Why do I own a gun? How about, I don’t need a reason, but if you want to know … I like guns… oh yes, and I believe that ultimately the person responsible for my safety and that of my family is… you guessed it… me.
Okay, so I get the pic that opens this post. AR-15’s are not really military grade weapons as liberals like to propagandize without any knowledge of firearms, but to, me countering that argument gives it some credibility and here’s the truth. It has none.
My question is simple. What’s wrong if it is military grade? So what? The Second Amendment reads as follows:
“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
That seems pretty clear to me. The intent was to allow individuals to own military style weapons of the day if they so choose in order to maintain… you got it… freedom. Self defense, personal security, hunting, target shooting, plunking away at cans is cool too but not necessarily the main intent. An AR -15 is not military grade for a number of reasons but it is somewhat military …larger magazine capability, standard NATO ammo etc… so what?
The Military works for us in this Republic. We provide the weapons and we have a right to own the same weapons we provide for our soldiers if we choose. Only a government afraid of its citizens wants to disarm them.
I get the point of this meme, but don’t care about the argument. For me, the bottom line is, if I want to own any weapon, any style, any caliber I should be able to buy one for whatever reason without government interference or questioning as to why I want to own said firearm..
Sound radical? Take it up with the Founders who drafted the Second Amendment.
